Why do you want to switch lawyers in the middle just to convert ?? You COULD switch, but you may have a hard time finding a lawyer who will take you as a client.

Thanks for your reply-the only response I got
They have not returned my calls in over a year and the trustee requests info my lawyers have and the reception girl says she cant find my file. I referred my sister and my mom and dad and we are all having the same problem. The trustee is threatening to dismiss if info not recieved and this is constant.I cant imagine this for 5 years. My poor parents same thing.Even on my 341 meeting my own lawyers didnt go to the court date because they said they didnt know about it. And the trustee said he didnt even have the paperwork he needed as far as a plan yet either. To convert they want another thousand dollars and this is what the front girl said I yet have talked to them and if I go there they say they are never there. Nothing is like what they told me they can do either. So can I switch or do I have to dismiss with them and start again under the new law chapter 7 or can another lawyer just take over and be under the old law?

First, I'd file a complaint with the bar association, that kind of mishandling of your case is ridiculous.

You should call a few other lawyers and see if they'll take your case for a conversion. If you find one, ask the first one for a refund for their complete lack of representation and services.

Do YOU have any of the information the Trustee is asking for ?? If so, then send it to him yourself, don't risk a dismissal. If you don't have it, I'd camp out in the lawyers office and demand a full copy of your petition.
