I won a judgement against one of my tenants in civil court and was awarded the amount that the tenant owed in back rent.
I offered a payment plan and the tenant refused to pay. I executed my right to a sheriff's sale and the day before the sale the tenant filed for bankruptcy. Do I have any recourse at this point, and if so...what can be done about this? |
My response:
In a word, nothing. You're not a "secured creditor" and now, as a result of the BK, your judgment isn't worth the paper it's written on. Or, to say it another way, you're "Sh*t outta luck".
