Terminal Illness/Credit Card Det

My Uncle has Terminal Cancer and has come to live with me. He has totally neglected his Financial Affairs. He is a retired Firefighter on a Pension. His home is being foreclosed. His mail is forwarded to my address & he is getting threatning mail due to Credit Card & Finance Co's. He chooses to ignore everything but I am trying to get his affairs in order but this is over my head. What can the Credit Card Co's do to him. He has 6 to 9 month to live. I have his Durable Power of Attorney/Healthcare & Financial so I can pay Medical & Pharmacy bills. I would appreciate any advice.
