That's my question too ...What is the name of your state? IL But what if it's a car? "**************which Nolo book did you get the info on Eliminating Nonpossessory Nonpurchase-Money Security Interests from? " I understand the avoid lien circumstances, and I have the Nolo book. But I cannot find if you can do this if the loan involved a vechicle ? (It was non-purchase loan, and the vehicle is exempt) Everything fits except the Nolo does not say "vehicle" so I want to know if I can avoid this lien. Thanks. |

| I believe the same premise applies. If the lien impairs the exemption, then you can ask that the lien be avoided. This even works, to some degree, for a lien against a home, but its a bit trickier.
