Question

Can I change my mind about reaffirming?

What is the name of your state? Texas
I filed Chapter 7 and have not had the 341 meeting and I put a debt on the list I would like to reaffirm but now we can't afford it so is it too late to change it and have it charged off?

thanks.

A debt is either secured or unsecured, you cannot decide to change the that.

Are you possibly talking about reaffirming vs. not reaffirming the debt?

Yes, you can change your mind about reaffirming up to the date of discharge.

If you have simply listed your intention to reaffirm on your petition and have changed your mind, you don't have to take any action as a result of changing your mind.

If you have already signed a reaffirmation agreement and it has already been submitted to the court, then your lawyer will need to file something with the court to rescind the reaffirmation agreement.

Hope this answers your question.
