trustee and personal property appraisal

What is the name of your state? IN
Been waiting nearly 1 year for trustee to close case and now he has requested an appraisal of personal property, apparently to determine if we undervalued property on filing, which is Pre-Oct 2005. Any ideas what to expect? Will we walk an appraiser through our home and he will make notes of what he sees and set values or will he try to enter the home when we are not home?

Entering your home when you are not there would be illegal breaking and entering ! That's not how it works. They show up at the house when YOU are there and they go thru and do an inventory. Since your BK was pre-BAPCPA (new law), then the typical value on personal property was GARAGE SALE VALUE - not replacement value like it is now.

Whatever you do, do NOT mention the word 'antique' or 'collectible' of 'family heirloom' (if you have any) in front of this person !!! If you have any records of how old things are, value at the time you purchased it, have them handy. If you don't have that, make your own inventory and add that information.
