Unreported Property Question

What is the name of your state? Florida.

My wife died four years ago owning a piece of property under her name. It was basically worthless at the time and nothing was done about it. I declared bankruptcy three years ago and completely forgot about that property. I didn't report it even though I suppose I own it. Now it is worth a lot of money and I want to sell it. Am I at risk for fraud? Thanks for any help.

At risk?? Yes. How much so will depend on all the facts. For example, your post doesn't say whether it was a chapter 7 or chapter 13, or whether the case has been closed or is still open (being paid).

Also, since it is somewhat unusual for a property to go from "worthless at the time" to "worth a lot of money" in just three years, and to have been overlooked.

Contact your bankruptcy attorney.

Why has he spent over $1.35M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

It was chapter 7 and the case is closed. The undeveloped property went from 8k to 70k in the last 3 years because it's in Naples, which is the hottest market in FL, and they're opening up a university 2 miles away. I want to strike while the iron is hot but don't know how risky it is to bring attention to it. Who would find out?
