What are the chances of they suing me?

What is the name of your state?
Los Angeles, CA

First I would like to thank everybody for all the help I am getting here in this forum. You guys are great!

Now my question...

Here's a list of what I owe:

card A 2,018.55
card B 3,017.52
card C 1,770.49
card D 5,188.69
card E 2,796.74

Med. A 10,000.00
Med. B 935.00
Med. C 6,049.98
Med. D 367.00
Med. E 630.00

TOTAL $ 32,773.97

I make $2,400.00 a month (take home pay), and after my expenses I have very little money left (about $200.00).

I had decided to file for chapter 7, but my friends keep saying that this is not the best option.
If Chapter 7 is not an option for me, what should I do?
How can I split 200.00 a month to pay over 30K in debts?

Thanks!

M.

Would you go to your 'friends' for a gall bladder operations?

If no, then get the advice of a bankruptcy attorney. Only you can make the decision to do this but without a face to face with an attorney (most will give one hour free consultation) no one can tell you with certainty.

Are you current? If not, when did you last pay the orginal creditor?

I am behind on my credit card payments 2 months.
I've never paid one cent to the medical bills, because at first I was fighting with the Health Insurance Company about them, but in the end it is my responsability...

I was hoping it may have been longer and you could ride out the SOL but, the SOL in Ca. is 4 years.
If Citi, Discover or, Cap1 is a creditor, you have a very good chance of being sued at some point.
The previous poster is correct. See a lawyer and get all of your options explained.
Just out of curosity, what did you friends have in mind as an alternative?

I saw a bankruptcy lawyer already and of course they think it's the solution for all my problems.

I did not mean to look stupid by listening to friends' advices.
No, they don't have better alternatives, perhaps they think I should pay the minimum on my credit cards and wait until I win the lottery someday...

I am really confused, but I don't think debt consolidation is a solution, since they are mostly scams.

Well you know what your friends' advice is worth.

As for bankruptcy, I have never had to face it and it comes with not only legal but moral complications that only you can answer.

As for paying the minimum, you're far too deep and you'd never get out. I believe bigun will agree that bankruptcy may be your only option.

And, as always, seek the council of more than one attorney. You need to select an attorney like you would a doctor. very carefully.
