What is the name of your state? South Carolina

I just found out that the person I sold a car to 1 1/2 years ago was five months shy of the age of 18. He stopped making payments six months ago, then totalled the car. I filed for small claim court and his response was that the contract was void becuase he was 17 when he signed the contract. He made payments until he turned 18 and then stopped (I checked the payments by date). Can I continue with the suit or do I have to stop. I had his father co-sign the bill of sale, but not the letter/contract I typed up. Can I sue the father? Thanks TA
