Maryland......Recently my son and I went to a small dealership and purchased a used car. I was told my credit wasn't all that great but they would put him (just turned 17) as the purchaser and me and my husband as co-signers. The deal went through. Now, we are looking to trade that car in and everyone tells us he can not legally be the first person on the loan and it is an invalid contract. Several large car dealers have told me that is illegal. I called the bank and they said he could do it as long as we co-signed. Who is correct? Thanks
