Purchased a 97 neon in IA from a used car dealer for our 17 year old son. Have since discovered, it appears, to be 2 cars welded together to make one. No salvage appears on the title. VIN # on the windshield is different then the one that has had a number scratched off in the trunk. What legal grounds do we have?? Any suggestions. Meeting with the car dealer this evening.

My response:

Don't go to the dealer, yet. Go to your Department of Motor Vehicles and have them investigate the matter and have them put the fear of God into them. Your grounds are fraud, misrepresentation, breach of contract, and a whole host of other causes of action. But, see the DMV first, and let them handle it.
