Am I liable?

What is the name of your state?Missouri
I found out I am being sued for a bill that was put into my name 12 years ago with a utility company.(phone) At the time I was a minor and living at home. I am pretty sure it was my parents who did this...as they have done it to my brothers as well. The collection agency is trying to make me pay and they say that I cannot prove I didnt do it. I have to pay. Wouldnt there be some kind of contract? Being 16 I cannot enter into a contract legally, what can I do to get this off my record as I cannot afford to pay this bill?

Is this kind of debt one that the Statute of Limitations applies to? If so are they able to keep harassing me after it has expired. This is not on my credit and I have never heard anything about it until now. If anyone could help that would be great. Thank you

I would assume that, not only does the statute of limitations apply here, but you were a minor, as you said, and not able to enter into a legally binding contract.
