What is the name of your state? TEXAS

I'm trying to find out what the laws/statutes are that cover selling a car through a 3rd party that's in another state...

Car stays registered in my name -
3rd party leases it out to someone else -
Leasee is responsible for insurance and monthly payment to the bank.
I sign over the title once the car is paid for.

Is this legitimate or scam artists hard at work? The car is about to go back to the bank anyway, so I'm at the point where I feel I have nothing to lose... I just don't want to wind up in jail or something for sending the car off in an effort to keep from getting it repo'd and/or going bankrupt...

Thanks in advance for any help someone can provide,
