CALIFORNIA. I did a favor to a friend by leasing a car under my name three years ago. He make the payments for the past three years but recently started to get late on the payments and is on the verge of defaulting. The leasing company is practically calling me everyday for payment and mentioned that my credit will be ruin if they do not receive payment soon. I want to solve this once and for all. Can I drive the car away and send it back to the car dealer? I want to pay it off. Will there be any problems? Can my "friend" call the police and report the car stolen?...we are not on talking terms now. Please advise?
