What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Florida

This question pertains to auto-renewal of home alarm security system contracts. I came across a 2012 Florida statute 501.165 which states that automatic renewal of service contracts is valid only if the service provider gives written notification to consumer within 30-60 days of renewal. Otherwise the autorenewal provision is void and unenforceable. But I was told by the alarm company that that this is only applicable to contracts signed after May 2010. Is it true that this law is not applicable to contracts signed before 2010?
