i live in new hampshire. in october 2000, i signed a contract with a local building contractor to construct my new house. towards the completion of my home building process, the contractor claimed he was having financial problems but would be able to finish my home and pay all subcontactors and debts associated with my my home. he has drawn all monies from the construction loan funds provided by my bank, of which i am responsible to repay. he paid all but one sub-contractor. i have a signed copy of an agreement between the two, contractor and sub-contractor, that agreeable arangements had been made for payment by the contractor to the sub-contractor. no lein has been placed on my home or property by any sub-contractor. after the completion of my home, the contractor filed for and won bankruptcy protection. now the sub-contractor who was not paid wants to sue me, he claims the obligation to pay this debt is mine. is this possible and does this sub-contractor have any basis for this suit?
