In March we contacted a dog breeder in Wisconsin regarding the purchase of a puppy. The breeder told us she had a litter that was due in late April. If we wanted to put a deposit down, we could have first pick (after her) and the price would be $500. About a month after the puppies were born (4 of them) we visited the breeder so our children could see the litter. At that time we asked when we might be able to pick our puppy and take it home. The breeder said some time in late June or early July. Today, June 26, my husband called the breeder to see if we could pick up the puppy this weekend. At that time the breeder informed him that she was so pleased with the quality of this litter that she had chosen three of the puppies (which left us no choice) and that she was raising the price to $750. It's the raise in price by $250 that we are concerned about. We feel this woman has broken a verbal contract and shouldn't be allowed to raise the price on us at the last minute. Especially since our children have been waiting for this puppy for months. What would be your best recommendation at this point?
