Bug infested bed summary

How do I go about suiing Bed Company in Lincoln NE when I reside in Newport Beach, CA

Purchased high end organic bed from Bed Company in Lincoln, NE. Have invoice, no contract. Bed was shipped custom organic layers are inside zipped up cover. A few months later starting experiencing physical symptoms including extreme rashes, itching, feeling of something crawling all over us at night. Since we were new to Southern California thought we were having allergies or flea issues, and treated accordingly. Hired pest control company they came out and did inspection of home and found nothing in home, carpet or garage, then insisted they check our new bed. We assured them there couldn't be anything wrong with the bed as it was very high end and new. They unzipped the bed and found HUGE INFESTATION. You can see on the layers inside there was something on the bed the company tried to clean it off still sent it to us as a new bed. It appears that our bed must have been in a warehouse that was water damaged and/or infested from rodents/birds/nesting etc. We hired guys to bag the bed remove it from our home immediately, and it's in storage. We are accruing 150 month storage fees and the Bed Company owner wont take our calls or answer our emails. We have wall to wall carpet in our home even though we have treated and treated extensively, we are still continuing to experience same issues, so it looks like we're going to have to move. Our lives have been interuppted in the most pro! found ways, we've been basically existing for almost a year now, not really living life full out as a result of this issue. We are in Newport Beach, CA Bed Co is in Lincoln, Nebraska. We paid approx 5000 for this bed. Should we hire a CA based attorney to send a demand letter for damages? Should we hire a NE based attorney to send a demand letter for damages? NE small claims only allows up to a maximum of 3600., which is too low. Can we send demand letter ourselves? If so what would it say?
