Recently, Sodexho Marriott Services, Inc., has come under attack by the Prison Moratorium Project and other groups about its ties to the Private Prison Industry by its parent organization's (Sodexho Alliance) stock shares in the Corrections Corporation of America.
Is it legal for schools like Earlham College ( a Quaker school) to continue to force students to eat on meal plans (19 a week for freshmen, 14 or 10)? Can colleges and universities really make students pay for meal plans? Students don't want to support private prisons, they can boycott the food service provider, Sodexho Marriott Services, but their money will still be going to this corporation under fire.
How can I find out how legal it is to force students to eat on meal plans contracted by sodexho or any other food service provider? How much of the contract between Sodexho and Earlham am I entitled to review?
