Can they come get my car?

What is the name of your state? California
I recently financed a used car and I never recieved a payment book until 2weeks after the first payment was due. It is now the day before the 2nd payment is due and they have repossed it. I made contact and they told me that they had none of my contact info. They also tell me that I can't have it back because I am a hight risk. Do they have the right to keep it even if I bring the payments current?
