My daughter leased a car and her ex husband's name is on it too. She just got a document saying she has to get a different car of equal value or resign the lease at a higher rate, in 30 days. Can the car dealer where she has the lease actually enforce this?
What if she doesn't have the credit to get a different car? Her name is still on the house with the ex, can she somehow delay this action until he refinances the house due to financial stress or something on that line?

Is there a problem with payment history? What has changed that would precipitate such a demand from the dealer?

also, is this lease through one of the auto manufacturers and dealership systems? If so, once the lease is signed, the dealership has nothing to do with the car or the lease. The car is "sold" to the leasing company (usually an arm of the manufacturer) and the actual contract is between that owner and the lessee (your daughter and ex in this case).

So, if you could, explain what got this ball rolling.
