Toyota dealership in Florida wants to change term of contract on used-car purchase. They said they can't finance for 54 months and have to change to a 48-month contract, which will raise our monthly payment by about 42 dollars.
I am under the understanding they have to contact us within 10 days of purchase, which they did by 'phone'...is this an acceptable legal practice? Can they inform you of their intensions over the phone, or does this have to be in writing?

Thanks for the help!

If you do not accept the terms by which they can provide you lending, you can either rescind the deal or provide your own financing.
