my fiance has had a car loan for 3 years that i am not on, but I am on the registration/title and I am the one who insures the vehicle. We are now running into difficulty trading the vehicle in for a new car. the new dealership is stating that it was illegal the way our paperwork is set up and the previous dealership should never have completed the paperwork in that manner. Now we are waiting for a couple of days to hear back from the new dealership. the question im asking is was it illegal for the loan to be set up this way and how should we now handle the situation. We can no longer afford the VERY HGH car payments and really need to downsize so any advice would really help. thank you
