    Certified Mail vs. Priority Mail

Is Priority/Express mail with signiture confirmation legally equal to Certified mail ? In both cases the recipient must sign for the letter and the sender gets proof of signiture. So are they the same thing? Thanks.

effectively BUT if a law or rule specifies certified mail, that is the only method acceptable. If it states certified mail or some equivalent service that provides proof of delivery, then either would be acceptable as I know them.

I think with certified mail you can add an option to direct it at a specific person.

Certified mail and signature confirmation (return receipt) can be ADDED to Priority Mail. So, if you send something priority, you have to pay for the additional Certified Mail and also the additional return receipt service.

With Express mail, you would STILL need to add the signature confirmation (return receipt). Since you would have proof that it was delivered by the USPS and signed for by the recipient, this would meet the requirements.
