changes to auto finance contract

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? We live in Tennessee, Saturday we bought a truck & signed a contract for auto finance. Monday we decided not to take "gap coverage" when we called the dealership requesting it to be removed, they say they "can't, we mailed it allready,in 30 days after we get our paper work for the payments from the bank come in and we can change it.The total financed will change, but the monthly payment won't change, the extra will go toward principle. Is this right? If the total finance changes then why is the payment amount the same.

This sounds normal. Think of it this way, you will pay off the car a lot quicker.

The total financed amount doesn't change - the loan is booked at the bank for the contracted amount, at the contracted terms.
