Co-siging for a vehicle

What is the name of your state? North Carolina
I co-signed for a vehicle, the individual would not pay for it. I gave the back all the information to repo it two years ago. They did nothing or said they could not find it. Now another person have been bothering me at work and he says that he wants 14,000. to settle the claim. The boy only paid 13,000 for the vehicle and two years ago he owed 12,000 on it. They have let his keep it for two years now and he has torn it up and when they did repo it finally the back window was broken out and messed up. They want me to pay all the interest and all. Now he says he will take 11,000 to settle. I do not feel like I should have to pay for their error in not repo the vehicle when they should. I just do not know what to do. Can they sell my property to pay for it. Or can they just put it on my credit record.

I need help

I'm guessing that you didn't read the loan agreement that you signed as a cosigner. All of your questions will be answered if you do.

In short; you agreed to be responsible and to pay any legal fees relative to enforcing the contract whether or not a court case is filed.

Cosigning is way more serious than many people seem to believe.

For more info search this site for cosigning.
