hi, i am from new york and attend a small college in new york. it is a private college and recently i tried to move off campus because it is a very expensive college and i found it would be much cheaper to do so. the college told me that i was not allowed to move off campus unless i am 23 (im 21) married or had kids. are they allowed to do this, when according to the law i am an adult at 21, not 23? now i am faced with either being forced to pay an arm and a leg to live on campus in less than appealing circumstances, or to transfer, which would be very inconveniant. when I came here, did i unknowingly sign a contract sayingi agreed to this rule, or is it considered an agreement since i decided to come here? Do I have any legal rights in this situation?
