What is the name of your state? Ohio

My girlfriend entered into contact with her ex-boyfriend at the time of there break up. The ex claimed that she owed him money. In this contract he does not outline a time of repayment, total amount owed, or amount of installments to be made. My girlfreind has made payments totaling $180.00. She feels that this is all that she owed him. Now, he is trying to get about $900.00 from her. He has sent letters threating legal action if she does not pay him. In his letters,..which are two so far he has changed the amount owed and the items that he says that she owes him for. She has sent him a letter stating that she would like to view reciepts of these items proving that he purchased such items and that she recieved such items and he can not produce them. She asked for all of his requestes to be submitted in writing and forwarded to a specific address. He has forwarded letters back without reciepts to that address as well as to her parents address. She does not live with them and prior to his letter being sent to her parents they were not aware of this situation. The contract was not drafted in front of legal counsel nor is there a witness signature. They are both over 18

Is this even a valid contract? If he can not prove that he even purchased these items, and he can not produce reciepts, and it is not outlined in the contract, does she have to pay? Can she seek criminal/civil action agaisnt him for harassment, slander and possibly extortion?

Thanks,
