State? Illinois.
I entered into a contract yesterday to pay $800 to play football for an amatuer team. I have now decided, however, to not participate for many reasons. I know Illinois has a "Cooling-Off" period for some contracts but this was not mentioned in this contract nor discussed. Would the "cooling-off" period apply for a contract of this type and if so how should I go about canceling the contract and how long do I have to do so. It has only been approximately 12 hrs at this point.

No.

There is NO statutory right to rescind your contract. Try to negotiate a waiver with the other party..... absent that, you have no right to cancel. Looks like another expensive life lesson learned.
