I live in California. A year ago I joined a Gym. Six months into the membership I realized that the Gym was not for me and stopped attending, I also let the Gym know that I was no longer going to attend and requested that our contract end. We could not come to an agreement so I continued to pay my monthly fee until the contract was completed. Now that the contract is complete they are wanting even more money to end the contract. Is this legal? What course of action can I take to keep from being taken advantage of? Any help you can offer would much appreciated.

If contract is complete to both parties satisfaction.
Then contract is complete and you owe nothing more.
Read your contract paying special attention to the "small" print.
Did you contact the gyms owner /manager concerning this?
Do you pay monthly by check , is it taken directly out of your account or do you pay by credit card?
