I'm in North Carolina. 2 years ago I cosigned an Auto loan note
for my stepson who was then living in Colorado. He moved back to NC about a year and a half ago
The Auto has been repossesd recently by the loan company, sold at auction for pennys and I have been sent the bill for the balance.
During the last two years I have never been contacted by the loan company about late payments nor notified that there was even a problem.
I was not contacted by the loan company before the car was repossesd.
I was never notified that the car was to be auctioned.
I was never given the option to make payments and keep the auto for my own use.
As far as I was aware all payments were being made because I was never contacted and told anything else.
What are my options? What should I do to protect myself and my wallet?

find a more responsible step son.

He LIED to you, so you are on the hook for the money.

Make him work 3 jobs and pay you off or take him out of your will.

The boy aint got a lick of common sense,
