Is it not true that if you give a merchant your credit card number, they must tell you the amount of the charges before it is considered authorized??
Or is it considered authorized just by giving them the number?
I don't see how it can be considered authorized if the cardholder is not informed of the amount being charged.
Anybody have some knowledge on this?

Once you give someone your credit card number and expiration, that is authorization to charge to that card.

I can't imagine anyone giving a merchant their card (or numbers) without knowing what the final cost is.
