State of Arizona, formerly Michigan. Old credit card debit of myself and former business partner, both of us had signed for cards, myself as first, her as second purchaser. The purchases were mostly for items of our former business and the business is desolved. Now I have been left to pay the bill. I don't have any money, no savings, no mortgage, zip. Former partner has upper level income. The credit card co has sold this debt to a collection company who has said that they are turning it over to attorneys in my area. Can they attach to my income through my job? What can they do to me? They don't seem to want to talk to the other responsible party even though I've given them her phone number and address.

I AM ALWAYS LIABLE

In the words of Sonny & Cher, "I've got you, babe".

The creditor can go after whomever they choose. If you had a partner who is also liable for the debt, then when a lawsuit is filed against you, you can respond to that complaint, and then at the same time, file a cross-complaint against your former partner for indemnification.
