My daughter was at a home daycare center for almost 1 year (11/01/03 to approximately 9/01/04 ) I did sign an agreement - in the agreement it did state that i had to give 2 weeks notice. Before I took my daghter out of hre daycare I had several issues - 1st Debra - the daycare provider did state that she would provide menus for the child (so I know what her meal are ) that never happen - 2nd during the time that my daughter was there the provider ended up adopting 2 child ( twin girls that were almost 3 years old at the time ) I was friendly with this lady and she did reveale alot of information to me - 1st the mother signed over rights to the child - the court asked both parties if they knew who the father was and they both said no so they did lie to obatin custody ( which was an untrue statement ) granite he was a drug user and had his own issues the mother was living with him at the time - The mother decided to go off to Australia to be with someone else ( also gave up another child to his father ) well she ended up telling me that he came by one day and also his relatives were coming by to visit and that she was afraid that he would try to come by and take them ( so now it is unsafe for my daughter to be there . In addtion they started to lock the door which I complained about and she said that other daycares have locks too ( but at daycare centers you have a code to buzz yourself in - so you dont have to wait for someone to open the doors and wonder what was going on in the meantime. and the straw that broke the camels back was my daughter was sent home (in addtional to all the kids at the daycare stating that she and the others had lice ! Fine normal kid occurance but it happened again 3 weeks later and this time it happened on a Wednesday and this time my daughter did not have it but I had to treat her head with the chemicals as a precaution. Well she then had daycare open on that Thursday and had all the kids there, then said she was going to close her daycare on friday (after all the kids were already there for 1 day (and all the parents do depend on her to watch children so the parents can work. So now I had nobody to watch my daughter on that Friday and was put out by the problem that she should have resolved the night she found it. from that point on i did not bring my daughter back. She did not provide a safe place for my daughter and she stated she would. Now I am going to court and she is trying to sue me for 135.00 for 2 weeks and late fees of 15.00 per week for each of the 2 weeks from then till now and ongoing - Am i liable or is there something that protects me in this case (and my daughter)

help please -- a desperate mom !
