What is the name of your state? ca
My friends and I had purchased three tickets from an online travel agent, Skytours. All prices were in USD, there was no indication that we would be charged in euros anywhere on the site, including the fineprint. The amount we were charged on our credit card statement ended up being about $58 more than the confirmation amount on the website. When we called the credit card co., they said that Skytours was only able to charge in euros because they were located in germany(neither fact was stated on their site), the USD amount on the website confirmation was only an estimate and Skytours could not control the exchange rate.
Did Skytours break the law (deceptive pricing)? If so, which
law(s) and how can we prosecute when they're in germany? Shouldn't a receipt be a legal contract between buyer/seller? It doesn't seem right that Skytours should be allowed to charge more than the amount we agreed to upon purchase.
Thank you!
