What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Missouri

Someone I know entered a local contest from a major corporation (for protection of both parties, I don't want to get in to the specifics of who they are).

There were supposed to be two winners. For the contest, the people were supposed to state why they wanted a specific room fixed up.

The person won and the company came out and took measurements. About a week or so later, they said they decided to transfer all of the money to one place, instead of having two winners, even though there were supposed to be two winners and told the person they were a winner.

Does anyone know if this is illegal? If it is, can someone please find me something legal related that states it is illegal?

Depends of the rules and conditions of the contest. If your friend decides to sue, he can sue for his losses. This would be the cost to enter the contest, not the value of the prize.
