What is the name of your country? UK

On our last day of our holiday, my wife and I went on an excursion. We were taken to a turkish rug manufacturer. After the brief sales show we were escorted to a room and shown more rugs. Not knowing much about rugs we were pressurised (intimidated by 6 sales men) to make a hasty purchase, which they claimed was half the value compared to UK prices.

As we just wanted to get out as soon as possible we reluctantly picked the cheapest one we liked and put down the minimal deposit (£100), with the £600 balance on cash (cheque dated for 6 months time) on delivery (6-8weeks).

Since arriving back home and checking on the net, we have been desperately finding out more about rugs and now want to cancel.

Are there any international laws similar to the UK where we can cancel within a specific time period. Can the shop force us to pay the £600 once we've told them that we want to cancel.

Please help?
