Expired check

I'm in California and I think I know the answer to my question but wanted to get opinions. I recently found a check from Alliance Title Company that voided 4 years ago. I do not know how I missed cashing this check. I understand that Alliance Title filed for bankruptcy in 2008 so I guess there is no way I can get this money back. Is my assumption correct?

First, the statute of limitations is 4 years. Second, the company went bankrupt. Depending on the specifics, it's still possible you could collect, but it's unlikely.

Who knows, you might want to try this link and see what happens. The state may send you an IOU since at the moment they may be using your money to pay their bills.
