Failure of utility company to transfer service, billed

Houston, Texas

On September 1st, I requested my electric company to transfer services from my old house to my new house on September 18th. Because of Hurricane Ike (September 12th-14th), they failed to do so and electricity in my old house was not disconnected until October 13th. Electricity in my new house was connected on September 18th.

I received my bills today which included meter usage from the old house all the way up until October 13th. Am I supposed to be responsible for the entire portion of the bill?

When you called the utility and asked, what were you told?

Depends..... Who used the electricity in your old house from 9/18 to 10/13?? If new owners, they are responsible. Send them a WRITTEN request with a copy of the bill.

There are at least 17 lawsuits (!!) filed in various courts, including the US Supreme Court, asking if Obama is a natural born citizen (as req'd by Art II, Sec 1 of the US Constitution).

Why has he spent over $1.7M in legal fees to block disclosure... rather than spend $12 for a VALID birth cert to settle the matter? The 'certificate' he has presented doesn't qualify to get a drivers license, wouldn't allow a child to qualify for Little League, or for a real citizen to get a US passport!

No one was using the electricity during that time, but apparently there is some sort of "base fee" which is what they're charging us.

When I called, the customer rep pretty much said that I was responsible for the charge, even though he didn't give any legal reasons. Pretty much stuff like "lots of people don't have electricity now so why are you complaining about this". He gave me a case number and said they'd call back in 45 days.
