Forged Signature

What is the name of your state? California
If a signature on a contract is proven/acknowledged as a forgery and default on that contract is basis for a judgement against the person whose name was forged, does the company seeking damages have any responsibility to ammend complaint or otherwise?BTW, person who forged the documents is known.
