I want to understand how this works. I used to study civil contract law and I have limited knowledge. Under this law if two parties have a contract between each other and one of the parties does not comply to the terms of the agreement, then you have a breech of contract. How do collection agencies legally collect and sue for debts that a consumer never gave permission to be party to the agreement or contract? I have heard that there are agency principles or a Restatement of the Law of Agency that makes this possible. I have done a legal search on find law and I cant come up with how these assignments over rule simple contract laws.
