My friend and I live in CA. I purchased a motorcycle from her that had sat unused in her garage for many years. I paid her and got a bill of sale and an old New Jersey title. She said she had lost the current one but would get it to me so I could register the bike under my name in CA. It's been 2 months and I haven't gotten anything from her. She keeps making excuses whenever I ask about the title. I have pre-paid and pre-registered my bike in CA but can't complete the paperwork until I get the title. NJ DMV has no record of any paperwork filed to get a duplicate from her but stated there were no holds or liens and she is the last owner registered. Can somebody please help me?

You need the title.

I would go over there and tell her that you need the title asap. If she keeps making excuses because she lost it then she can possibly get a duplicate from NJ but she has to do it on her own. You can't do it for her. These are only helpful hints. :)
