What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Georgia, US

I understand by state law that we have 7 days to cancel a contract. Do we have to give a good enough reason or can we just cancel no matter what within the 7 day period?

Georgia law has nothing about a 7 day right of recision. There are specific instances that allow for a 3 day right of recision. This would not apply to a gym membership unless the seller of the membership made what is called a "cold call" sale. This would mean the seller came to your home or other neutral location and made the sale. If you went to the gym, there is no right to recision, period.
