Help with couch situation

Hi- I bought a couch and love seat from a major department store. I bought it on clearance because of a rip in the back of the chair but that is all that was wrong. I was assured that this was fine italian leather. I have had the chair and couch for 3 weeks and where ever any one has sat on it- all of the dye has come off so it looks bleached all over it- where ever an elbow, foot or anything has touched it the finish is gone. The department store will not do anything for me and I saved for 2 years for this $2000 purchase. I knew about the rip but shouln't they do something even if there was no warranty because it was on clearance. This is obviously a manufacture defect- by the way I have talked to the maker of the furniture and they will only deal with the department store not individual customers. Please help
