My Parents signed up for a credit card machine. Unknowingly they signed up for a 4 year lease paying 60 dollars/mth for a 300 dollar machine. The agent said they would be able to cancel if they didn't need it. The contract they signed was from a fax and the small print wasn't legible. All you can really read is the amount to be paid per month, how long, and a part that says "No early termination fees" all of the small print is not legible, neither is the companies scanned copy. Would we be able to get out of this contract as the contract is not legible if we brought them to court? What are our odds? They say the contract is not cancelable, and to get out we have to buy out the remainder on the lease.

Also, just recently (1 yr after signing the contract) the company is trying to force us to pay "insurance" on the equipment. Something that isn't mentioned in the original contract. Could this be another way out of the contract?

Try and find a copy of the rental agreement online (assuming they're a large chain) - you might find the phrase "we reserve the right to change prices without notifying you" (paraphrased)

In all honesty your parents shouldn't have signed at all if they couldn't read it.
