My 75 year old nieghbor recently bought his first computer and called his local phone company to inquire about internet service. He has no previous experience with computers or ISP's. His local phone company talked him into a 1 year contract, paying a non-refundable, full year of service. The service is extremely slow and customer service is very poor. He called them and asked to cancel the contract and service and was told, "You knew it was non-refudable when you signed it and we have expences to cover too, so we can't refund your money."
Is there anything that he can do to get out of this contract?
