My parents bought a living trust in '92 for $1000. The brochure explaining the trust said there would be no further legal fees or maintenance costs.
My Dad died and now the lawyer handling the trust wants to charge my Mom $800 for estate settlement & trust amendments.
Isn't this in violation of the written guarantee in the brochure? Is this a legal violation, or just unprofessional behavior or what? Or is there some unwritten law that 'no further fees' doesn't meant what it plainly seems to mean?
(The whys and wherefores of the $800 cost is another story. This question just asks: is it ever justifiable)
