What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? new york

hi,
I own a small gunsmith shop.
my question is:
if a firearm is brought in for repair and is repaired, and the customer is notified that it is finished, but doesn't come to pay or pick it up, can i resell it to get my fee for repair and if so , how long must i hold the firearm before i can sell it?...thanks **************..Roger
