Is it legal to charge cancellation charge even if I didn't attend any fitness class ?

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? Virginia

I haven't attended any fitness class with Capital MMA. Because of my work timing I wanted to cancel the membership within a week without attending any class. Now they wanted to charge $250 as cancellation fee. Is it legal? Can I sue them as I didn't use their service even for a single day?
