What is the name of your state? New York State.
I purchased a used vehicle from a dealer, and at the same time purchased 75,000 service plan (knowing I would not need to pay for any services for the next 75,000 miles). I just got a call from the dealership informing me that the manufacturer won't uphold the service plan since the car is more than a yeara old, and that they will credit the amount back to me.
I spoke to the dealership and explained that I don't think this is acceptable - I bought the car and the service plan, and that they shouldn't have sold me the plan if the manufacturer won't uphold it.
The service agreement is transferable, and we bought the plan to guarantee our monthly payments (no hidden service fees down the line) and also so that it would be a good feature should we ever sell the car.
Can the dealership just do this and expect us to have to keep the car - even if it is now going to cost us more than we initially budgetted over the lifetime of the vehicle? Can I insist that they take this back, and do I have a case to expect them to? I don't know if they are just trying to strong-arm me but I think it is unfair and not right.
Thanks so much
Russ
